March Catch-Up

March was a mostly cold and rainy month for us here in DC, but we have taken advantage of a couple nice days to have some fun!  We met Clark downtown one Friday after work to see all the memorials.  The weather here is so different from AZ; it was like 70 and partly cloudy that day, but with the humidity it felt so miserable.  So glad we're going back to our dry heat soon.
Washington Monument:  see if you can spot the Clarkie in this picture...
Korean war memorial: This one is really amazing, with sculptures of real soldiers.  There was also a wreath there from a school in South Korea.  They haven't forgotten, we were so touched by that.
Lincoln Memorial: Everytime Clarkie sees a building with colums he exclaims "Lincoln!"
 Vietnam Memorial
Our reflection in the Vietnam memorial wall with all the names of the fallen.
The White House: The guy who took this didn't really take time to center it :)
These were part of the National Sculpture Garden, part of the Smithsonian system.  It was a pretty comfortable sculpture!
We took Clarkie bowling on a cold weather day, and now he asks if we're going bowling from time to time.
Hungry boys after church (ours is at 3pm!)
 Henry making his chipmunk face
Our friends James and Natalie and their baby Ian came down from New Haven to visit.  We forgot to get a picture together though! James took this one for us, our first family pic at the monument.
We also visited Arlington National Cemetary with them.  This is the gravestone for my Uncle (my Aunt's first husband) who was in the Navy.  He was killed in 1967 at the age of 25.
The fam at the National Shrine, the largest Catholic Church in the nation.
It's bigger and more impressive than this picture makes it look;  there are something like 30 small chapels inside all dedicated to different countries, from the Phillipines to Slovenia.  We weren't allowed to take pictures inside, but the upper cathedral and dome are breathtaking, and decorated completely in mosaics.
Every boy needs a cowboy pic in his underwear right?  (Potty training is mostly complete too, woohoo!)
Love my boysies!!!
